Tips to Get Cheaper Car Insurance

The cost of car insurance depends on your age, location, mileage, type of car you drive and even the job you do. You can choose from three types of cover, depending on your budget. The choices are - Third Party Only, Third Party Fire and Theft, Comprehensive. New drivers and Younger drivers tend to have higher premiums - but it is possible to save money on your car insurance. You may be able to get a cheaper deal if you're a woman, avoid insuring other 'named drivers', have a claim-free insurance record for a year or more, or accept a high excess.

Specialist insurance policies are also available for Taxi and Van drivers.

  • Get more than one quote if possible! Prices do vary, so shop around.
  • Ask your friends! Find out who they recommend and who they don't!
  • Compare quotes with your current policy - make sure you're getting a better deal.
  • Use the same insurer - you may get discounts if you already have a policy with them.
  • Increase your excess. A higher excess will mean lower premiums.
  • Pay for the cover that you need.
